Nanyang Modern Mahjong Mindsport Tournament 2026

Tournament Overview

The Nanyang Modern Mahjong Mindsport Tournament is back for another edition after popular demand! The fourth edition of this Singapore-organised MCR tournament will take place in November 2026, on board Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas, departing from Singapore. This tournament is organised by Quesheng International Mahjong Club (under the Singapore Sparrows Mahjong Network) in partnership with Citystate Cruises, and supported by the Mahjong International League.

Navigator of the Seas will offer a family-friendly itinerary that allows guests to visit three ports-of-call in Southeast Asia along with many entertainment options onboard the ship. Interested competitors are welcome to come along with their families so that they can enjoy both a challenging international mind sport tournament and a fun-filled cruise vacation!

19th November 2026 to 24th November 2026 (5 nights).

Navigator of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International), departure from Singapore.

Registration Fee
Nil, if room package is booked with our partner travel agent, Citystate Cruises.
SGD 300.00, otherwise (if room package is booked with other agents, or if using membership benefits).

Accommodation Costs for Cruise
SGD 911.00~1,341.00 per person for early-bird promotional fares (until 6th February 2026 or until all reserved rooms are sold out).

Fares are inclusive of taxes and gratuities. All meals and most activities are included. Additional charges (in USD) will apply for alcohol, premium beverages, internet, shore excursions, spa services, and specialty dining.

Registration Deadline
30th January 2026, for payment for early-bird promotional fares.
28th October 2026, otherwise, subject to availability of tournament places.

Number of Competitors
A maximum of 64 players.

Rules
Mahjong Competition Rules, 1998 edition, as interpreted by the Mahjong International League (MIL), i.e., China Majiang Federation MCR Tournament Rules 2017 (hosted on Google Drive).

Tournament Format
8 games in Danish System for player-matching (non-elimination, strong-against-strong).

Schedule
Day 2: morning, 2 games; afternoon free for visit to Penang, Malaysia
Day 3: no games scheduled, whole day free for visit to Langkawi, Malaysia (ship leaves 6pm) 
Day 4: morning, 2 games; afternoon free for visit to Phuket, Thailand (ship leaves 8pm)
Day 5: cruising at sea, 4 games

Players are advised not to book shore excursions on Day 4, as tournament game timings conflict with arrival time in Phuket.

Lots of time for social play and onboard entertainment! Tournament venue will be open for social play during non-tournament time.

Prizes
This tournament has prizes for the top 4 individuals.
